Obituary:

Reuben (Ben) R. Robley, of Kimberly, Wisconsin died peacefully on Saturday, April 9, 2011, at Appleton Health Care Center following a stroke at the age of 87.

Ben was born in Clarks Mills (Manitowoc County) on Nov. 2, 1923, to the late Peter and Ida (Thone) Robley. He spent his teen years working on the family farm.

Ben was well known in the area for his tree-trimming skills and for his love of animals, especially rabbits and horses. He was employed by Hofkens Lumber in Kimberly.

Ben married Valdis Sengbusch on June 8, 1946. They moved to Kimberly in 1948. They are the parents of five daughters: Barbara Gillis, Howards Grove; Sharon (Harlan) Volkman, Seymour; Janice (Cornelius) VanVoorhis, Shiocton; Susan (Henry) VanOudenhoven, Neenah; and Kathy (Joe) Van Mun, Kimberly; one son, Russell (Margaret), Kaukauna; 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grand children.

Also surviving are three Brothers: Llewellyn (Vivian), Manitowoc; Roger (Karen), Manitowoc; and Merlin (Gloria), Reedsville; two sisters: Dorothy (Jim) Arentsen, Sheboygan; Diane (Paul) Havlinek, Howards Grove; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Robley, Manitowoc; brothers-in-law: Clayton (Beverly) Sengbusch, Oxford; Myron (Carol) Sengbusch, Brillion; and Pastor Carroll Sengbusch (the late Dolores), Hudson.

Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ben was preceded in death by three brothers: Royal, Vernon, and Marvin; a sister and brother-in-law: Ilene and LeRoy Stock; and a son-in-law, Paul Gillis.

The funeral service on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran in Little Chute, Wisconsin, with Rev. Ronald Szep officiating.

Entombment was at Appleton Highland Memorial Park.
