Lewellyn L. Robley, age 85, a resident of Harmony Living Center, Manitowoc, Wisconsin, died on Monday, May 2, 2011, at the Center.

Lew was born Aug. 28, 1925, in the town of Cato, son of the late Peter and Ida (Thone) Robley. He graduated from Valders High School with the class of 1943. Lew served in the U.S. Coast Guard from Feb. 23, 1943, through April 4, 1946, as a Seaman First Class.

On May 29, 1949, he married Vivian Meyer at St. John's Lutheran Church in Newtonberg. Lew was employed at the Kohler Company and Schlei Drayline Transportation Company. He owned and operated a dairy farm at Wilkes Lake until 1955, when he purchased the Berge Farm in the town of Liberty. Lew enjoyed sports of all sorts, especially golf in his retirement years, and playing cards with friends. He coached Little League for several years and enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers and basketball. Lew was a good bowler and liked to square dance and travel.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years: Vivian Robley, Manitowoc; five sons and four daughters-in-law: John "Jack" and Marilyn Robley, Manitowoc, Bruce and Lin Robley, Manitowoc, Brian and Michele Robley, Manitowoc, Tony Robley, Kaukauna, Peter and Eileen Robley, Cato; one daughter-in-law: Karen and Daryl O'Hearn; eight grandchildren: Jason (Michelle) Robley, Jess Robley, Seth (Leslie) Robley, Aaron (Bobbi Jo) Robley, Lesley (Jeremy) Burri, Lisa, (Luke) Lane, Zachary Robley, Brianna Robley; two stepgrandchildren: Cory (Jackie) Myers, Kristy (Russ) Hess; nine great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Rachel, Corbin, Aiden, Idella, Quinten, Autumn, Kylee, Reis; two brothers and two sisters-in-law: Roger and Karen Robley, Manitowoc, Merlin and Gloria Robley, Reedsville; two sisters and brothers-in-law: Dorothy and Jim Arentsen, Sheboygan, Diane and Paul Havlinek, Howards Grove; two sisters-in-law: Valdis Robley, Kimberly, and Shirley Robley, Manitowoc. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by two sons: Burton and James, both in 1985; four brothers: Royal, Reuben, Vernon, and Marvin; and one sister and brother-in-law: Ilene and LeRoy Stock.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders. Officiating at the service was the Rev. James Rasmus. Cremation took place and Lew was laid to rest at Gjerpen Cemetery.
