IDA HOIME, 88, of Devils Lake formerly of Edmore, ND died on Friday, December 23, 2005 at the Heartland Care Center with her devoted husband at her side.
Ida Wurgler was born at York, ND on September 18, 1917 to Alfred and Anna Marie (Mueller) Wurgler. Country living was always part of Ida's life. When her mother passed away in 1937 she and her sisters continued to care for their dad and brothers. In the late 1930's she moved to Devils Lake and worked as a waitress.
Ida met Elmer Hoime after he returned from World War II. They married on September 18, 1946 and they moved to rural Edmore where they farmed. During her life, Ida enjoyed tending her flower beds, gardening, canning and hauling the guys around from field to field. She was an avid knitter, crocheter and quilter. Together they enjoyed bowling and whist tournaments. Ida was active in Concordia Lutheran Church, Ladies Aid, VFW Auxiliary, Edmore Historic Society and the Senior Center. They retired to Edmore for several years and moved to Devils Lake for medical care.
