JoAnn B. Leckfor, Brookfield, Ohio was called home to Our Lord on Thursday, April 23, 2015, in Cleveland Clinic following a brief illness. She was 76.

JoAnn was born July 7, 1938 in Sharon the daughter of John and Helen Podlucky Bohach. A lifelong area resident and Wheatland native, she graduated from Farrell High School in 1956.

She retired in 1991 from Packard Electric Corp., Warren where she worked as an assembler and quality inspector for 31 years. As a member of the union and in retirement, she was an activist for worker’s rights.

A lifelong Catholic, she attended St. Patrick’s Church, Hubbard and St. Thomas the Apostle (formerly St. Bernadettes), Masury.

JoAnn was a volunteer with the Sharon Regional Health Systems Ladies Auxiliary for twenty years. She enjoyed crocheting, crafts, and bingo. She loved cooking for her family and will be remembered for her signature dishes of bologna stew and hunky meatballs.

She was committed to helping others and she will also be remembered for her random acts of kindness and her philanthropy.

A loving mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two sons; Ronald J. Leckfor and his wife Tina Louise and Roger J. Leckfor and his wife Sandra, all Hubbard; three sisters Louise E. Dunder, Sharpsville, Veronica J. Banjak and her husband Ronald J., Hubbard and Theresa B. Kettering, Sharpsville; one brother, Paul Bohach and his wife Beverly, Port Charlotte, Florida; and two grandchildren; Christina and Michael Leckfor. She is also survived by two nieces, Elaine Kettering and Janine Kettering Frey, who she referred to as the daughters she never had. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by four sisters; Margaret Pelles, Rosemarie Moder, Valeria David, Anna Sirochman, and Catherine Bohach; one brother, John R. Bohach III; and her former husband of 40 years, Ronald F. Leckfor, and beloved nieces Karen Donnelly and Renee Rubano.


The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105; the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, [email protected] or the Humane Society of Mercer County, P.O. Box 1046, Hermitage, PA 16148.
