The passing away of Mrs. Catherine Shipe-Linn in Bull Run, aged 79 years, which occurred Sunday morning, recalls that Mrs Linn was the last member of the Shipe family. Her brother, Peter Shipe, passed away last year. Her sister Mary, died more than twenty years ago, and another sister, Margaret Smith passed away in Duquesne ten years ago. Mrs. Linn’s mother was a Schweitzer—and two of the sixth generation of the Schweitzer side of the house are citizens of Bull Run. Two life long friends of the family attended the funeral, Peter Linn of Carnegie and Charles T. Goldstrohm of Duquesne. Mrs. Linn was a maid in the Goldstrohm home at Dravosburg, and was married at the Goldstrohm home 61 years ago, to Jacob Linn, who died in 1925. One uncle, the venerable Jacob Schweitzer, who resides in the 10th ward in McKeesport, and is in his 86th year, also attended the funeral which was held yesterday morning at 10 o’clock from St. Agnes’ Catholic church, in charge of Father George Leichs, pastor. Interment was made in Richland cemetery. (Duquesne Times, Mar 21, 1930, p 11)
Catherine's father, Peter Shipe, died 25 Nov 1855.
