Samuel was the son of John and Rebeckah Titus. He married Rebecca Johnson on 10 Oct. 1753. He is referred to as a "leading supporter" of the Presbyterian Church in Pennington. He died intestate in 1778, presumably in Hopewell Twp., old Hunterdon (now Mercer) Co., NJ, where he resided.

Samuel and Rebecca had 12 children (all presumably born in Hopewell Twp., old Hunterdon Co., NJ):

1. Catharine Titus, b. 1 Nov. 1754;
2. Johnson Titus, b. Jan. 1756, m. 1778 to Anna Stout--linked below;
3. Solomon Titus, b. 8 Oct. 1757, m. 1779 to Susannah Reed--linked below;
4. John Titus, b. 9 Dec. 1759;
5. Samuel Titus Jr., b. 1 Dec. 1761, reportedly a blacksmith in Hopewell, though supposedly the same Samuel linked below;
6. Nathaniel TItus, b. 12 May 1764;
7. Andrew Titus, b. 16 June 1766, m. to Martha Cornell;
8. Enos Titus, b. 22 May 1768, m. (1st) to Mary Reed, m. (2nd) 1797 to Elizabeth Hill--linked below;
9. Benjamin Titus, b. 22 Mar. 1770, m. 1798 to Anna Lee--linked below;
10. Rebekah Titus, b. 12 Dec. 1772, m. 1796 to Benjamin Merrell--linked below;
11. Mary Titus, b. 22 Mar 1774, m. 1797 to Elijah Hunt--linked below;

Gravesite Details

Samuel was very likely buried here considering his affiliation with this church and the burial of four of his children here.
