Funeral services for Albert Froemming were held June 26, 1959 from Zion Lutheran church in Alexandria. Rev. K. K. Hill officiated. The pallbearers were six grandchildren: Harlan Froemming, Bernus Kuehl, Kermit Froemming, Dale Froemming, Roy Froemming, Norman Kuehl. Interment was in Kinkead cemetery.
Albert Froemming was born in Pommeran, Germany, April 24, 1866, the son of Christian and Ernestina Froemming. when Albert was three months of age, the Froemming family immigrated to the United States, coming to Ashepun, Wis. They made their residence in Ashepun for 11 years, then came to Leaf Valley township, Douglas County by covered wagon.
On November 25, 1886, he was united in marraige to Bertha Schoeneck. They farmed on the home farm until 1927 when they retired from active farming and moved to Fergus Falls where they made their home for 10 years. In 1937, they moved to Alexandria, where Mr. Froemming has lived for the past 22 years. Mrs. Froemming passed away Nov. 1, 1949. Mr. Froemming made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Henry Borchert, for two years. For the past eight years, he has resided at Bethany Home.
He passed away June 23 at the Douglas County hospital in Alexandria at the age of 93 years, 1 month and 29 days. He is survived by four sons and four daughters: (Adela) Mrs. Fred Kuehl of Alexandria, Edmund and Walter of Garfield, (Frances) Mrs. John Kuehl of Moorhead, Erhard Froemming of Crane Lake, Minn., (Irene) Mrs. Henry Borchert of Alexandria, (Luella) Mrs. Harry Woesner and Irwin Froemming of Alexandria. Also surviving are 32 grandchildren and 53 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; three children: Selma, Alfred and Albert; two sisters and three brothers.
