Josiah Immigrated From Lousiana to The Republic of Texas, along with his younger brother David, after they received land grants for their service to the Army of The Republic of Texas. More family members followed in time and the area which is now NE of Houston became known as Huffman Texas. He raised cattle there and had children before his family moved to Galveston prior to 1850. The 1860 census showed the family to be back in Harris Co.
