OBITUARY Iron River Reporter April 14 1976 "Obituaries: Arvid W. Peterson"
Arvid W. Peterson, 70, Gaastra, passed away very suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, April 8 at Iron County General Hospital.
Mr. Peterson was born September 23, 1905 in Norway, Mich. He came to Gaastra with his parents as a child and had resided here ever since, with the exception of four years when he lived in Grand Rapids. Mr. Peterson attended the Norway and Stambaugh public schools and worked for M.A. Hanna Mining Company for 30 years, retiring in 1966 as a mining captain. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and of the Iron River Elks. He married the former Marian Olson on July 11, 1931.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. John (Karen) Myers, New Brighton, Minn. and Mrs. Joseph (Maxine) Linderer, Coloma, Mich.; two sisters, Miss Mae Peterson, Indian Lake, and Mrs. Ann Friestrom, Kingsford, and four grandchildren.
Memorial services were at the funeral home on Friday evening under the auspices of the Iron River Elks Lodge.
Funeral services were at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, April 10 at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Clayton Parcels, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Wilbur Kinsey sang "Come Ye Disconsolate" and "Blessed Assurance," accompanied by Mrs. Paul Wilson, organist.
Pallbearers were Carl Anderson, Warren Hayes, Arlyn Aschinger, Jack McAuliffe, Joseph Bociek and Wilburn Olsen.
Interment was in Stambaugh Cemetery.
Brooks Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
