Cisco, May 30- Funeral for S.W. Altman, 83, prominent west Texas merchant, will be conducted at 3 pm Wednesday at the First Methodist Church here.
The Rev Claude P Jones, pastor, will officiate and will direct burial at Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr Altman, who owned stores in Abilene, Cisco and Eastland died at his home here about 4pm Monday.
His body was found in the hallway of their home by his wife when she returned home from their clothing store here. Indications were that he was attempting to make a phone call.
Mr Altman was born in Arkansas County, Arkansas December 23, 1866 and came as a small boy with his parents to Hico. The merchant was reared there and attended Hico public school and opened his first store there, a general merchandise store he maintained for 10 years.
He was married in Hico to Lula Azalee Haynie of Basin Springs on December 27, 1895.
The couple moved from the Hico and Hamilton County area to Lorraine where they operated a mercantile store for nearly 15 years. Then they moved to Arlington and later Abilene where they lived several years before moving to Cisco.
Mr Altman was a member of the Woodmen of the World and the First Methodist Church.
Surviving are his widow; and three daughters, Mrs Floyd Robertson of Eastland, Edith Altman of Cisco and Miss Wanda Altman of Wichita Falls; two sons, F.B. Altman of Abilene, who manages the three stores and Mason, of Abilene; one brother, Wylie F Altman of Arlington; and a sister, Mrs Ada Pierce of Sweetwater. Three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
