A native of Jackson County, Ga., he was the son of the late Love P. and Donie Doster Irvin. He was a retired Carpenter, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, receiving a Purple Heart; and a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Polkville.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, David Earl Ervin; seven brothers, J.L., Tom, R.B., Lucious, Curtis, Roy, and Lee Irvin; and two sisters, Ruby McDaniel and Cora Lee Davis.
He is survived by three sons, Edward H. Ervin Jr. of Shelby NC, Harold W. Ervin of Kings Mountain NC and Michael G. Ervin of Shelby NC; one daughter, Barbara A. Hardin of Shelby NC; first wife, Lura Black Ervin and second wife, Jean Holland Ervin; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday April 25, 1997 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Polkville, with the Rev. Thomas Irvin and the Rev. Billy Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
