Services for Betty R. Hodges Carlile, 70, were Friday, September 20, in the Marietta Pentecostal Holiness Church. Officiating was Rev. T.W. Owen.
Mrs. Carlile was born January 15, 1926, at Rubottom and died September 18, 1996, at Lake Country Manor Nursing Home in Marietta. She was the daughter of John A. and Jessie Plemons Eakins.
Mrs. Carlile had lived in Love County all of her life. She was a homemaker and had previously worked at the Turner School Cafeteria. Mrs. Carlile was of the Protestant faith and a member of the Eastern Star. She and J.W. Carlile were married September 26, 1981, at Wilson.
She is survived by her husband, J.W. Carlile of the home at Burneyville; two sons, Meril Hodges of Healdton and Johnny Hodges of Burneyville; two daughters, Martha Parsons of Burleson, Texas, and Sue Lazos of Marietta; four step-children, Lavoy Carlile of Canton, Texas, James Carlile of Bowie, Texas, W.M. Carlile of Hennessey and Yvetta Thacker of Midwest City; a brother, Bill Eakins of Lone Grove; five sisters, Beatrice Cartwright of Lone Grove, Lois Cartwright of Valley View, Texas; Pauline Hodges of Wilson, Arlene Wade of Burneyville and Christine Williams of Rubottom; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Carlile was preceded in death by her first husband, Red Hodges, on July 8, 1977; and a grandson, Michael Lazos on April 26, 1996.
Interment was in Simon Cemetery under the direction of Kennedy Funeral Home. Serving as pallbearers were Bill Lantz, Weldon Cross, Marvin Wade, Warren Williams, Brent Goodwin and Don Cartwright.
