Arlene was born Sept. 10, 1933, in Mapleton, Iowa, to William and Lorretta (Kenney) Birtwell. She attended school in Mapleton. She married Lloyd Stines on Aug. 17, 1952, in Correctionville. They farmed near Correctionville for many years before moving to town and retiring. She worked at many nursing homes, the family farm and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She was a member of Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing cards, dominos, cribbage and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; two daughters, Geneva and her husband, Richard Pocock of Wassau, Wis., and Vicki Steffens and her special friend, Duane Twite of Correctionville; two sons and their wives, Rick and Kathy Stines of Cleghorn, Iowa, and Lloyd and Beverly Stines of Quimby, Iowa; a son-in-law, Domingo Castaneda of Sioux City; grandchildren, Lori, Bill, Tiffany, Jeremy, Jason, Nicholas, Scott, Kimberly, Kayla, Lloyd Robert, Michelle, Molly, Adam, Juan, Jiame and Carmelita; great-grandchildren, Travis, Brittany, Mikey, Brook, Elizabeth, Dominik, Kyler, Koby, Matthew, Brianna and Katherine; and a brother and his wife, Daniel and Jean Birtwell of Cherokee, Iowa.She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Chrystal Vaughn; a daughter, Toni Castaneda; a daughter-in-law, Julie Stines; and a grandson, Joshua Steffens.
