MUNCIE - Thelma M. Belt, 89, passed away Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Signature Health Care Center of Muncie.
Thelma was born to Shelby and Mary Ann (Van Horn) Harney in Perkinsville, Indiana on June 20, 1925. She married William R. Belt on February 14, 1944.
Thelma was employed at Wert's Novelty as an inspector. She enjoyed rummaging, camping, and fishing trips with her family. She also loved to crochet and cook big dinners for family and friends.
Thelma was preceded in death by her husband in July of 2013; brothers, Harold Harney and James Harney; and sisters, Doris Martin and Phyllis Aker.
Thelma is survived by her children, William (Judith) Belt, Jr. and Shirley (Gene) Cannady; brothers, Frederick Roscoe (Ellen) Harney, Shelby (Pat) Harney, Jr, Clifford (Ruth Ann) Harney and Kenneth Harney; sisters, Naomi Maxine Burke and Bertha Imogene Hurst; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and special friend, Joan Richmond.
A funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will follow at Elm Ridge Memorial Park.
