He proudly served in the United States Navy. He was an avid fisherman who made his own nets. He also loved to shrimp. He enjoyed working in his vegetable garden every year. He was a hunter and trained his hunting dogs himself. He was a member of the Honey Hill Hunting Club in San Mateo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Myrtice Taylor; two sisters, Mamie Smith and Ineva Covington; and two brothers, James Edison Taylor and Trenton Taylor.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Latrelle Taylor of Palatka; four daughters, Kathy Meyer and her husband Bob of Hollister, Karen Fortner and her companion, Bill Wimberley of Francis, Sherry Madler and her husband Jason of Hollister, and Lisa Kalaczynski and her companion James Suckow of Palatka; two brothers, and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Laverne Taylor of Waycross and Herbert and Tina Taylor of Brunswick; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita Thomas of Waycross, Betty Ruth Johnson of Palatka, Morrell and Shirley Huey of Alabama, and Kathleen and Roy King of Alma, GA; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2014 at the Masters Funeral Home in Palatka with Bro Darrell Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Palatka Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
