There are so many different years of birth,
draft card: 1876--marriage record 1874--But all the census records are 1880 which makes the year 1877...

EMPLOYER: StClair Exl.Co. in StClair,Smyth Co. VA
DATE: Sept 28, 1918 when he registered for the Draft
Draft Card

1880 census
age:3 makes his birth year 1877

Marriage record to A.E. Foster 1896
NAME: E.J. HAGA
SPOUSE: A.E. Foster
PLACE: Grayson Co. Virginia
DATE: 6 Dec. 1896
FATHER: Henry HAGA
MOTHER: Elizabeth
BIRTH DATE: 1874
BIRTH PLACE: Grayson Co. VA
SPOUSE FATHER: Wm. Foster
SPOUSE MOTHER: R.J
SPOUSE BIRTH DATE: 1879
SPOUSE BIRTH PLACE: N. Carolina

1900 census St.Clair, Williams twnshp. Smyth, Virginia
This gives the first child born after their marriage in 1896, Gertrude G. born Jan. 1898 N.Carolina. The connection that this HAGY, Enock age:23 born Va/Va/Va and that the daughter Gertie G. born Jan. 1898 NC as the mother was, came from a fellow researcher, John Ramer. The mother's name March E. does not match but then census records are often wrong on the true GIVEN names and use nicknames. OR MARCH is when AMERICA E. was born... maybe that is where she got the name???

"1910 census Marion, Smyth, Virginia
HEAD: Erick HAGA age:34 VA.
WIFE: America age:30 N.C.
DAU.: Gertrude age:13
SON: Zollie age:7 VA.
DAU.: Mary age:2 VA."
SOURCES:familysearch.org/ ancestry.org--
(I just love census records this one has Zollie age:7 a son..and the 1920 census has Zallie W.G.-daughter age:17
so I am sure this is the same child.)

1920 census St. Clair, Smyth, Virginia
HEAD: Enoch J. HAGA age:43 - yr.born:1877- rent- born VA -parents VA/VA
WIFE: America E. age:39 - yr.born 1881 NC/NC/NC
DAU.: Zallie W.G. age:17 - yr.born 1903 Va
DAU.: Mary J. age:12 - yr.born 1908 VA
SON: George V.? age:9 -yr.born 1911 VA
SON: Joseph G age:6 -yr. born 1914 VA

After the 1920 census their daughter Zallie W.G. is not found on ANY CENSUS record that I can find, Until 1940 with husband John J. WILSON.

1930 census as listed below
"1930 census Dist #4, Baltimore, Maryland
HEAD: Enoch J. HAGA age:53 VA
WIFE: America E. HAGA age:50 Va
dau.: Mary J. HAGA age:22 VA
son: Joseph G HAGA age:16 VA.
GRANDdaughter: Mabel V. DORTHULA age:9 VA
Granddaughter: Mildred D, Dorthula age:6 VA."
(living with them in Baltimore Maryland - the same other people as on the 1920 census.)

as per the 1930 census ONE of the daughters must have given birth to 2 daughters, "Mabel in 1921 and Mildred 1924".
This information IS TOTALLY how it is "LISTED" on the 1930 census record from ancestry.com
so from the listing of course I came to the conclusion that "Mabel V/Mildred D DORTHULA" were the "Granddaughter" as the census taker wrote on her page...
HOWEVER, the FAMILY BIO by the grandson, Brad Miller says this is not true and that their records give Mildred/Mabel as the children of Enoch and America. Not their granddaughters. Further research to prove that this data is not accurate is needed.

Can not find anything on the marriage of a Dorthula to a HAGA...which is the last name given the 2 girls on the census. No marriage record for Zallie (Zollie) Haga born 1900-1905 came up for me in familysearch.org to John Wilson either.

1940 census Baltimore Maryland,
HEAD: John J Wilson age:51 born 1889 W.Vir.
WIFE: Zollie " - age:37 born 1903 VA
NEPHEW: George JR. HAGA age:6 born Maryland

S S DEATH INDEX gives
NAME: Zollie H. Wilson
BIRTH DATE: Aug. 26, 1902
LAST PLACE: Maryland
EVENT DATE: Dec. 1992
AGE: 90

1940 census
Enoch is 63 living with his son,GEORGE and Ollie his daughter-in-law in Maryland -he is a Widower -born Virginia - farm laborer
and George his son, Manages a farm.

America according to census records was born 1880, she passed some time after the 1930 census and before the 1940 census in Baltimore Maryland.
According to Brad Miller the g-grandchild, America died 1937.

Thank you to John Ramer for adding the date of death and the first daughter to the data.

Today Jan.28,2015 this memorial is being given to the g-grandson,Brad, of Enoch Jasper Haga. Even though I Carole Taylor-Puntenney (Eliz.Jane Rimer-Haga, sister to my Martha Rimer-Manis)created it as a g-Niece it is time that Enoch be with his closest family
'***********************************************************
Family-BIO by Brad Miller,
Enoch Jasper Haga my great grandfather. My grandmother was his daughter Mildred Denton Moselle Elizabeth HAGA.
Enoch Jasper and America Elizabeth Haga had seven children: Gertie, Zollie, Joe, Mary, George, Mildred and Mabel. The 1930 census is not correct listing Mildred and Mabel as being Enoch's grandchildren.
(even though the 1930 census taker wrote it)

The Dorthula, last name mentioned on the census is Mabel's middle name. Her name was Mitty Mabel Dorthula HAGA. Mildred was Mildred Denton Moselle Elizabeth HAGA.
Also incorrect is the DATA about --
Aunt Zollie William Gladys Haga-Wilson marring someone named Dorthula. Our family records say that Zollie was the sister of Mabel/Mildred, not the mother. Aunt Zollie married John Wilson when she was 18, in 1920. Due to the fever she had when she was younger, she never had children of her own sadly because she loved children.

America Elizabeth died in 1937 at age 58 when my grandmother was 14 years old.
There are no living children of Enoch and America. My grandmother died in 2007 and Mabel in 2008. Joe had died just prior.
