He married Georgia Gertrude Duncan 5/27/1899 in Villa Rica, Carroll County, Georgia. They had 8 children, 7 of which grew to adulthood. He was a postal carrier for 52 years. In the early days, he delivered the mail in a horse driven carriage. He was also one of the very first to deliver mail in the Rural Free Delivery mail system. He also sold coal from a wooden garage building at his house.
He took care of Gertie, his wife, when she developed rheumatoid arthritis, so severly, that she was bedridden for more than a dozen years.
After Gertie's death, he later married a really sweet lady named Irma Moore. They only had a few years together, until his death. He was a good father and grandfather. He was one of the sweetest and kindest men that I have ever known. He was my grandfather.
