Thomas David Underwood was born in Barren Co, Ky, the son of David Moses Underwood and Sarah Elizabeth Foster. He was a lawyer and became the county attorney for Barren County, Kentucky, in 1897. His father, David Underwood, did not sign the oath of allegiance to the United States until that time. Thomas Underwood lived his later years in Oklahoma City as an attorney. He died at his home in Oklahoma City, and was buried in Ardmore, Carter Co, Oklahoma. He is buried in an unmarked grave between his daughters Virginia Wells and Grace Kilman.
