David Moses Underwood was the son of Anderson Underwood and Nancy Mitchell.

He married Sarah Elizabeth Foster in Barren Co, Ky on Oct 18, 1849. They had 10 children.

During the Civil War, he was in the Morgans Raiders. He refused to take the oath of allegiance until his son, Thomas, ran for Barren County attorney in the 1890s.

Approximately 5 miles out of town on 31E N - 2 miles pass Beaver Creek and Golf Course on right side of road: The cemetery starts at a big stump at the top of the hill behind the barn. About 20 yards over is David's headstone which has fallen over face down. It is so massive it can not be upended without the use of the tractor. Between David's site and the stump are 10 more graves, which are sunken in, one deeper than the others. (Information from Monica Young, May 2009 - also a descendant of David Underwood. She state that at the time she found the stone, it was behind a farm owned by Mr. Steven at Rt 2 Box 438, Glasgow).
