Mary Lou Boehnke, age 85 of Bottineau, died Monday at a Bottineau hospital. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014 at 10:00 am at the St. Mark's Catholic Church in Bottineau. Visitation will be Thursday from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau. Burial will be at the St. Cecilia Cemetery at Towner on Friday at 2:00 pm. 

Mary Lou Boehnke, a daughter of Russell and Mary "Lena" (Tuchscherer) Hoynes, was born on October 24, 1928 at Mapes, ND. She lived with her family at Michigan, ND, Mapes, ND and Guthrie, ND before moving to Towner in 1936. She later graduated from Towner High School and began working at the McHenry County Courthouse. OnNovember 26, 1952, she married Robert Boehnke at Towner. They made their home on the Boehnke farm near Upham where they raised registered Hereford cattle. Robert passed away onSeptember 27, 1998. Mary Lou moved into Bottineau in 2000 and has resided there since. 

She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Towner and later St. Mark's Catholic Church in Bottineau where she was a member of the Altar Society. She was also a member of the Heartwarmers Club, Upham Birthday Club, McHenry County 4-H and the McHenry County Homemakers. She also volunteered at the Bottineau Good Samaritan Center and St. Andrew's Hospital in Bottineau. She also sang in the Good Samaritan Choir. 

Mary Lou passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014 at a Bottineau hospital. 

She is survived by 2 sons, Jeffrey and Matthew Boehnke; 3 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Francis "Red" Hoynes, Cecilia Kossan,Carolyn Aubol and Jim Hoynes; sister-in-law, Sadae Hoynes and numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence; sister-in-law, Charlotte Hoynes and brother-in-law, Paul Kossan.
