Clarence Edward Hoynes, 80, of Las Vegas, passed away June 29, 2014, from respiratory failure and complications from cancer surgery, at Mountain View Hospital, with his loving family by his side. He was born to the late Russell and Magdalena "Lena" Hoynes, April 28, 1934, in Drake, N.D. Clarence was the fourth of six children, with two brothers and three sisters. As a young adult, Clarence enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served for six years as a radar technician. He married his wife, Sadae, in 1958. They lived together in Pampanga, Philippines near Clark Air Force Base. During their marriage, they were blessed with four children, Richard, Kathleen, Charles and Michael. Together, Clarence and Sadae enjoyed 56 years of marriage. Clarence later worked as an aerospace engineer in Pasadena, Calif. until he retired in 1996. After he retired, he and his wife moved to Las Vegas. He enjoyed many pastimes, including fishing, golf and cribbage. Clarence also had an affinity for crossword puzzles and the daily Jumble. Clarence is survived by his beloved wife, Sadae; his four children; and his five grandchildren. He will be remembered as a spiritual and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Viewing will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 11, with the vigil services/rosary promptly following. Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 12, all at Mission San Fernando Mortuary Chapel, 11160 Stranwood Ave., Mission Hills, CA 91345. Following the burial, join the family for the sharing of memories and refreshments in the cemetery reception hall.
