Sidney was born at the Grace Hospital , in Edmonton.
There was a family story that he liked the railroads. Sid worked over at Port Alberni, B.C. in the forestry division as did his father. According to his death registration, Sid was a truck driver.
His parents lived at the Kiwanis Lodge , Nanaimo when they retired - Sid and Agnes Anderson lived there eventually. He was known for his participation in the Special Olympics and it was said that he would cycle in his wheel chair to the Lodge to visit his parents. Apparently he had such shakiness that surgery was done, which resulted in paralysis. Sid then appreciated his abilty to hold a cup without shaking. He was known for his patience, his enjoyment of the Special Olympics, and last but not least his love for his family, two step-daughters, friends, and life.

Sid was married to Sylvia Peters in May 1968, at Nanaimo, British Columbia. She was originally from Washington State. She died in 1971.
.
He was married later to Agnes Elizabeth Melling in Nanaimo, (his second marriage).
