Born at home on the western prarie of Mamou, La., on Christmas Eve of 1937, to Eddie Manuel and Tholize O'Pry Manuel.

Her long time companion "Patty Cake", a Yorkshire Terrier given to her by her son and daughter-in-law, preceded her in death by several months.

She was affectionately known as "MISS LAURA" as the proprietor of the SPORTS TAVERN on Hwy 14 & 6th streets, for many years. She also had a liquor store on Highway 171, known as "La Place de Liquor" and a conveniencs store on Old Town Road.

She lived in Laredo Texas and was the proprietor of the Lori Arms Apartments for many years, before her health forced her to move back to the Lake Charles area.

She lived the most part of her life in Lake Charles La , but always kept her love for Mamou, her birth place and ancestral home. In her last days, she spoke only the Cajun French language, and talked about her old home place and relatives.

She is laid to rest in the family section of the small Ardoin Cemetery, located off Hwy 104 just west of Mamou, on top of her Grandfather (Arcade Manuel), and near her sister, brother and daughter. She is resting in the Peace she prayed for, and her soul is in the Paradise she and her Mother talked about and prayed for, for so long.
