Dovie “Faye” Burton

Dovie “Faye” Burton, age 79, of Sneedville, passed away peacefully at her home Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, with her family by her side.

She was saved at an early age at Cobb’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she remained a member until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl B. Burton; son, Bill Burton and one infant great-grandchild; parents, Harve and Maude Ferrell; sisters, Jane Trent, Mary Bowlin, Charlsie Lamb and Margie Lamb; brothers, Paul Ferrell and John “Herb” Ferrell.

She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn (Ronnie) Horne of Rogersville, Anita (Michael) Collins of Sneedville, Sharon Gibson of Sneedville, Becky (Roman) Williams of Mooresburg; daughter-in-law, Sheila “Mae” Burton of Sneedville; 12 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sister, Sue (Lloyd) Manis of Rogersville; brother, Kelsie Ferrell of Eidson; and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Amedisys Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful care they provided with a special thanks to her hospice nurse Christy Bledsoe.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Cobb’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Porterfield, the Rev. Larry Lamb and the Rev. Roger Lamb officiating.

Burial will follow in the Burton Cemetery.
