SOUTH GLENS FALLS, N.Y. - Nicholas J. Catone, age 86, of Wilson Avenue, passed away on Monday, May 10th 1999 at the Glens Falls Hospital in Glens Falls, N.Y.
He was born on January 16th 1913 in Fort Edward, N.Y., he was the son of the late Pasquale and , Maria . (Corsale) Catone.
Mr. Catone was a World War II Veteran, having served three, years and seven months with the U.S. Army Company C 17th Armored Engineer Battalion, 2nd Armored Division.
He participated in seven different campaigns, which included the invasion of North Africa, Sicily, and Normandy.
He was the beloved husband of June M. (Hartman) Catone. Together they had one daughter.
He was employed by the Delaware and Hudson Railroad for 32 years and by Scott Paper Co. in Fort Edward, N.Y. for 13 years. He retired from Scott Paper in 1975.
Mr. Catone was a life member of the Knights of Columbus, Fort Edward Council 336, and a lifetime member of the American Legion, and Mohican Post 553 of South Glens Falls, N.Y.
He enjoyed spending the summer at his camp at Lake Hadlock with his family and friends.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two grandsons; Keith Jesse Amorosi and Kristopher Joseph Amorosi, three sisters; Mary Warren, Madeline Munoff, and Christine Murray, five brothers; Henry Catone, Patsy Catone, Diamond Catone, Joseph Catone, and Anthony Catone.
Arrangements by the M. B. Kilmer Funeral Home on 82 Broadway in Fort Edward, N.Y.
Burial will follow at the Pine View Cemetery in Queensbury, N.Y.
