Obituary for Val J Zahn
After a courageous battle with cancer, Val “Wally” Zahn, age 82 of Alexandria
passed away on September 29, 2014. Val was born and raised on the family farm
near Hague, North Dakota. He was the youngest of 16 children born to Magdelina
and Joseph Zahn.

As a young adult, Val moved to Minneapolis to join his sisters in “the big
city”. He then served in the Army during the Korean War. After being honorably
discharged, he returned to Minneapolis.
Val worked at Honeywell until he retired at the age of 55. A memorable
achievement in his career was his work on aerospace projects for the first space
shuttle, the Enterprise. After retirement he moved from Minneapolis to Lake
Miltona, eventually settling in Alexandria, MN.

Val enjoyed visiting with friends, cribbage, fishing, bowling, and golf. He
would proudly boast of the time he made a hole in one at the lake Miltona Golf
Club.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 10:00 AM
at the Church of St. Mary in Alexandria. Visitation will precede the mass from
9:00 to 10:00.

Arrangements are with Anderson Funeral home.

Val will be fondly remembered for his flirting, sense of humor and teasing. He
will be greatly missed.
