WESTBROOK, MAINE - Barbara L. Young, age 85, of Ash Street, died September 29, 2014 at Maine Medical Center, Portland, after a brief illness. She was born in Augusta, Maine on April 30, 1929 the daughter of Alfred E. Allen and Arlene (Tripp) Allen.

Mrs. Young attended Augusta schools, graduating from Cony High School.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Maine Line Tours as a tour guide for many years.

Her husband, Vaughn A. Young, predeceased her on January 28, 1998. She was also preceded in death by a brother, William Allen.

She is survived by a son, Gregory Young of Westbrook, ME; two daughters, Janice Rowbotham of Raymond, ME and Linda Burns of Brunswick, ME; two sisters: Marilyn Blanchard of Florida and Jean Greenleaf of Winthrop, ME; five grandchildren and a sister-in-law, Beverly Allen of New York.

There will be no public visiting hours. Burial with committal prayers will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Augusta. (Plummer Funeral Home)
