PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE - if you are asking for transfers, or asking questions / commenting about a specific memorial, please open the memorial and use the "Suggest other corrections". That will save contributors a lot of time and you will get your answers faster. Thanks.
The enlistment/released dates on military memorials come from U.S., Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File, 1850-2010.
Researching Edminster, Erskine, Walton, Winship families.
I was told by a military official to delete the rank prefix from most of the memorials I created. He said the military rank should only be used as a prefix if the person is on active duty at the time of death or served at least 20 years.
Please do not ask me to add transcriptions where the info already appears on the memorials via gravestone photos or in the bio section. There is no reason to duplicate the names & dates info. Find A Grave Support has confirmed the transcription field should include things such as "Mother" "Rest in Peace", a poem, etc. It is not meant to include everything written on the stone. They also said "It is up to the originating member what they include as long as you make sure that the names, birth and death dates/years are included in the fields available on the memorial page".
