He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Prior to his retirement, he was a district manager for the Portland (Maine) Press Herald for 20 years. He also was an insurance sales representative for Prudential Insurance Co. for several years.
Mr. Young was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 832 of South Portland, Maine.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Allen Young; two daughters, Linda Burns of Brunswick, Maine, and Janice Rowbotham of Raymond, Maine; a son, Gregory of Bridgton, Maine; a sister, Thelma Hammond of Farmingdale, Maine; six grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Spring burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Augusta. (Portland Press Herald 1/31/1998)
