A. J. Buss, 87, Dies In Milwaukee. Masonic services were held in Milwaukee Saturday afternoon, Feb. 17, for Abram J. Buss, with Rev. Levi Brenner, formerly of Belmont assisting. The funeral parlors were banked with beautiful floral tributes, showing the esteem in which he was held by his many friends in Milwaukee. Interment was in the beautiful Wisconsin Memorial Park.
Mr. Buss formerly conducted a monument works on the lot just north of the Squeeze Inn. He left Platteville in 1901. The Milwaukee Journal of recent date contained the following obituary: Abram J. Buss, 87, who moved to Milwaukee in 1901 after retiring from the granite and marble business in Platteville, Wis., died Thursday at his home at 3306 W. Wells street.
Born in Buffalo, N. Y., Mr. Buss went to Platteville as a young man and established the A. J. Buss Marble and Granite Co. in which he was active for 30 years. He was a charter member of Damascus Masonic lodge No. 290.
Besides his widow, Hattie, he is survived by four daughters, Mabel, and Nora Buss; Mrs. Nellie McCarn, and Mrs. Ethel Gillette; a son, John W. Buss, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Feerie funeral home, 2640 W. North ave., with burial in Wisconsin Memorial park.
