ABNEY

Walter Lincoln Abney, a state employee, died Monday at his home in Slidell after a brief illness. He was 61. Mr. Abney worked for the Department of Transporation and Development in the Weights and Measures Division. He was the son of the late Walter L. Abney, the former St. Tammany Parish School Board member for whom Abney Elementary School is named. Survivors include his wife Louida Larue Abney; three sons, Lincoln M. Abney of Lake Charles, Frank L. Abney of St. Charles, Ill., and Thomas S. Abney Sr. of Slidell, a daughter, Judith Abney Fitzwilson of Slidell; three brothers, Lawrence E. Abney, John Abney and Wilbert N. Abney, all of Slidell; three sisters, Annie A. Rogers of Slidell, Dorothy A. Tanner of Slidell and Nollie Vivien of Covington; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, U.S. 190 West, Slidell.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
