Delbert LaVerne Henson, 82, of Wavery, passed away on July 16, 2006, at home after an extended illness. Born August 9, 1923 in Tioga Center, the son of the late Delbert and Arra Nichols Henson. Delbert is survived by his wife of 60 years, Leona Simons Henson; five sons, Michael, Donald, Glenn, Keith (Millie) and Robert; five daughters, Robin (Harold) Carley, Barton, Kim (Robert) Fuller, all of Waverly, Terri (Duane) Richter, Lockwood, Janet Sandroni, Waverly, and Diane Allard. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; also his brother, Francis (Catherine) Henson, Owego; and his sisters, Veronica Mae Apalovich, Endicott, and Doris Grey, Boyton Beach, Fla.
At Delbert's request there will be no calling hours. A graveside ceremony will be held Friday, July 21, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. at Glenwood Cemetery, Waverly, N.Y., with Rev. Ann Canfield, officiating. Mr. Henson will also be afforded full Military Honors at the cemetery. Those wishing may consider memorial donations in Delbert's name to Lourdes Hospice, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, New York 13905. Arrangements are with the Luckner Funeral Home, 449 Park Ave., Waverly, N.Y.
