Mrs. Celestia V. (Smitty) Schmidt, 63, Route 3, died Thursday, January 14, at 2:40 p.m., at Memorial Hospital where she was admitted January 12.
She was born August 15, 1907 in Shelby County, Missouri, the daughter of William Thomas and Lottie Ellen Siminon Hardy, and married Raymond L. Schmidt, in Burlington, March 26, 1936.
A registered nurse, Mrs. Schmidt, for the past 25 years, had been a staff nurse and surgical supervisor at Memorial Hospital. She graduated from Burlington Hospital School of Nursing in 1930.
Mrs. Schmidt was a member of the Burlington Hospital Alumni Association and the Jane A. Delano Nurses Club.
Surviving: The husband; two brothers, Cecil Hardy, Troy, Missouri, and Ercie Hardy, Durham, Missouri; two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Dale, and Mrs. Margaret Marksbury, both of Quincy, Illinois.
