Born August 10, 1924 in Union, SC, daughter of the late Orin Bomar and Bessie Alverson Hollis.
Graduate of Union High School, class of 1941, retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 42 years of service, having obtained the position of Business Services Supervisor.
Former member of the Pilot Club, current member of The Telephone Pioneers of America, and a faithful member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church where she previously served on the Alter Guild.
Survived by her brothers, Orin B. Hollis, Jr. (Zora) of Loomis, CA, G. Truett Hollis of Pasadena, CA, J. Thomas Hollis (Max), C. Myers Hollis (Judie), and Richard E. Hollis (Jacqueline) all of Spartanburg.
Predeceased by her sisters, Mary H. Smith and Alice H. Lewis. The greatest pleasure of her life was her nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and a great-great nephew to whom she gave all her love and affection. Betty was most appreciative of her care giver, Grace Jolley.
A celebration of her life was Monday, December 1, 2008, 2:30 P.M., at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Spartanburg, conducted by the Reverend C. Alex Barron, Jr.
The family received friends following the service in the church parish hall.
A private burial was held in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Union, S.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials could be made to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, 400 Dupre Dr., Spartanburg, SC 2930.
