Marjorie K. Smith, 100, of Des Moines died at home on Saturday, August 30, 2014. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 2 at Iles Funeral Homes-Dunn's Chapel with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Marjorie was born in Hartford, IA on November 12, 1913, one of the fourteen children of Jared and Claudia (Fairley) Porter. She grew up in Milo and lived in several cities including Marathon, Farley and Dubuque before moving to Des Moines in 1972. She was a graduate of Beech High School and AIB. She retired in 1988 as an assistant trust officer for Iowa State Bank.

Marjorie was a member of First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed keeping up with current affairs and doing Jumble puzzles.

Those left to cherish Marjorie's memory include her three children, Gary Smith of Iowa City, Steven (Pat) Smith of Manchester and Susan Smith of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Tina (Jeff) Knutson, Tracy Hanson and Todd Smith, seven great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; and two sisters, Darlene Epps and Dorothea North. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis N. Smith, grandson Michael L. Smith and eleven siblings.
