World War I veteran

Silas L. Dingman, 80, a native of St. Johnsville, died Tuesday in the Kingsbridge Veterans Administration Hospital, after a long illness.
He resided on Glen Road in Shrub Oak. Bom in St. Johnsville on Sept. 4, 1898, he was the son of Silas and Ella Alter Dingman.
He was a World War I veteran and a retired employee of General Motors in Tarrytown. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local 660, Tarrytown.
Survivors include his widow, the former Mabel Lent; a son, Silas Dingman, Jr., Peekskill; two daughters, Mrs. Richard (Gertrude) Lush, Montrose, and Mrs. James (Vema) Carter, Shrub Oak; three brothers, Richard Dingman, St. Johnsville, William Dingman, Medford, and Thomas Dingman, Florida; a sister, Mrs. Ora (Ethel) Matteson, St. Johnsville; nine step-children, and a number of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday in Montrose with interment in Sunset Cemetery, Montrose.
