The Strong family came to Alberta from Nebraska about 1894, and must have been one of the first settler families to arrive. They travelled by covered wagon, and then by train. They lived in a 'soddy' in the Berrydale district.

Following a lengthy illness, Mrs. Minnie Eliza Strong, 93, of 1413 16th St. E., died in a Calgary hospital Friday.
Born in Michigan, she came to Olds 48 years ago, and to Calgary in 1938.
Mrs. Strong is survived by two sons, Walter C., Anacourtes, Wash.; Floyd M., Olds; four daughters, Mrs. William Head, Victoria; Mrs. J.H. Fletcher, Calgary; Mrs. C.R. Walrod, Kelowna; Mrs. H.G. Peck, Cochrane; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
