"Mrs. Alton D. Bell nee Clara Lina Schmidt Herbort of Fredericksburg, Texas passed away in the Knopp Nursing & Rehab Center in Fredericksburg on Sunday, July 27th, 2014 at the age of 97 years. She was born May 30th, 1917 in Fredericksburg, Texas the daughter of Ernst Schmidt and Meta Herbort Schmidt, married Alvin E. Herbort on July 25th, 1934; he preceded her in death on January 28th, 1960, then married Alton D. Bell on December 16th, 1977 he preceded her in death on October 8th, 1994. Clara worked as a chef & baker at the Country Diner, Andy's Diner and Deluxe Restaurant in Fredericksburg.
She is preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands, Alvin and Alton, her son, Jerry "J.C." Herbort, son in law, Jackie Goehmann, and by two sisters, three brothers, Olga, Mrs. Arthur Lorenz, Alex Schmidt, Estella, Mrs. Earle Summers, Henry P. Schmidt and Chester G. Schmidt."
