Alton Dewey Bell, 91, died on Saturday, October 8, 1994, in Hill County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 11, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Schaetter Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Lacy officiating. Mrs. Linda Welch was the organist and Lea and Laci Welch, the vocalists.
Interment was the Meusebach Creek Cemetery where Fredericksburg Masonic Lodge No. 794, AF and AM had the graveside services, led by Senior Warden Jim, Llewellyn and Junior Warden Warren Gunn.
Bell, a retired electrician in civil services at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi was born in Troup, Texas, on October 6 1903, the son of Robert Harvey Bell and Lucy Antoinette Darby Bell.
He was married to Maurine Harper and she died in 1973. He them married Clara Schmidt Herbort on December 16, 1977, and she survives, living in Fredericksburg.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and her spouse, Lucie Lyn and James Cotten of Aransas Pass; five step-children and their spouses, Bobby and Elsie Herbort of Mills, Wyoming; Lila Mae and Edwin Beyer of Fredericksburg, J.C. and Faye Herbort of Kingsland; Julia and Jackie Goehmann and Anthony Herbort, all of Fredericksburg.
