Elizabeth "Betty" Whiteman Andrews, 92, went to be with her Lord and Savior at home on Tuesday morning, April 29, 2008, after a short illness.

Betty was born in the Town of Sparta, on Dec. 30, 1915, a daughter of the late Milton Scott and Alice Shepard Whiteman.

On June 6, 1942, she married Paul Guile Andrews, who predeceased her on Feb. 25, 1966.

Betty worked as a secretary, ending her career at the Hawkins School at Craig Colony in Sonyea. Previously she had worked for Kelly Brother's Nursery and the Montgomery Ward's store in Dansville.

Betty was a member of the Dansville Presbyterian Church for many years and was a former member of the Sparta First Presbyterian Church in Groveland. She served her community as a den mother for Cub Scout Pack 40, a member of the Deborah Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Opportunity Circle at the King's Daughters and Sons Home, and as a member of the International Order of King's Daughters and Sons New York Branch. She recorded more than 2300 hours at Noyes Memorial Hospital and in the Spice Box Gift Shop.

Besides her husband Paul, Betty was predeceased by a brother, John Whiteman, and a sister, Patricia Whiteman Cork.

There will be no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the Dansville Presby-terian Church. Internment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Nunda. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville.
