According to his Ontario birth record, David's parents were Abraham Weaver and Mary Ann Zeller. His first wife and the mother of his children, Angelina Frey, died in 1921 and was buried in a Mennonite cemetery in Carstairs, Alberta; Angelina's birth family were Mennonites, and Angelina's father is also buried in the cemetery with his second wife.
