Jessie Louise Alford Blalock, 74, of Virginia Beach, Va., passed away on Friday, June 16, 2006, at her home.
Jessie was born in Spring Hill, W.Va., on April 7, 1932, a daughter of the late Elvin Samuel and Thelma Lee Polhamus Alford. She was a registered nurse with Princess Anne Family Practice, member of Virginia Beach United Methodist Church, Agape Class- Sunday school class, Norfolk United Methodist Ministers Spouses, Cape Henry Woman's Club, and Women of Wesleyan. She graduated from Charleston General School of Nursing in 1952.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Blalock Pearman and spouse, Steven, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Nancy Blalock Bloebaum and spouse, Scott, of Cary, N.C.; her son, Douglas Kenneth Blalock of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, Elvin ‘Junior' Alford of St. Albans, and Curtis Alford of South Charleston; daughter-in-law, Darcie Blalock of Herndon, Va.; and six grandchildren, Kyle Blalock, Blake Blalock, Brenna Blalock, Morgan Pearman, Elena Joy Bloebaum, and Adam Bloebaum.
In addition to her parents, Jessie was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles Blalock in 2000; a son, Michael Blalock; and a brother, Ray Alford.
Funeral service was held Saturday, June 24, at Virginia Beach United Methodist Church. Interment was held in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
