Mr. Alford was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who retired from Republic Steel in Cleveland. He is survived by his wife, Betty Alford of Madison; daughter, Lisa L. (Michael J.) Knack of Painesville; grandchildren, Ryan M. and Kaitlyn M. Knack; brothers, E.S. Alford Jr. of St. Albans, Curtis Alfred [Alford] of South Charleston, W.Va.; sister, Jessie Blalock of Virginia Beach. He was preceded by his parents. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, Dec. 21, 2001, at the funeral home. The Rev. James McCallister of Poca, W.Va., will officiate services. Burial will be in Mentor Cemetery.
