Obituary for Clemens J. Mayer
C.J. Mayer, who was injured by a street car in St. Paul, on the night of the 5th inst., died in St. Joseph Hospital, St. Paul, just 48 hours later. He received severe injuries in the head from which he could not recover, as well as a severe hurt in the groin. His remains were conveyed to this city Thursday evening and kept at the home of his sister, Mrs. F. Wolf, Sr., until Saturday morning when his funeral took place from St. John’s Catholic church. Deceased was born and raised in this vicinity, where several of his brothers and sisters reside. Shortly after his marriage, he left here, finally making his home in St. Paul, where he pursued his trade of cigar maker. He leaves a family, consisting of his wife and daughter about 17 and a son 15 years of age respectively. Mr. Mayer was a member of the I.O.F. and carried $1,000 life insurance with that society. He was 42 years and 5 months of age at the time of his death. To his bereaved relatives everybody extends a heartfelt sympathy. Jordan Independent September 15, 1904
