Richard Lee Guzzle

Early Life: Richard was born January 3, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a son of Howard and Marian Huff Guzzle. He attended school in Dubuque, Iowa.

Life's Work | Service | Interests: On July 14, 1960, Richard married Margaret Fern Kinkade in Milford, Iowa. He served in the United States Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS Bennington. After his honorable release, he fulfilled his dream of becoming a law enforcement officer and joined the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office in San Bernardino, California. He also served as Chief of Police in Milford, Iowa; with the Routt County Sheriff's Office in Steamboat Springs, Colorado; as well as, the Steamboat Springs Police Department. He is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed helping them grow in understanding. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and camping. Richard loved the mountains and was always a cowboy at heart. He enjoyed painting and focused on western themes. He was a fantastic listener and was very kind and compassionate. Most importantly, he loved his family. He was a great father, excellent husband and fantastic grandfather. He had many friends and loved hearing the stories of other people. Richard Lee Guzzle, of Provo, Utah passed away Sunday, May 18, 2014, at 8:28 p.m. at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was 76.

Survived By: His sons: Gordon (Evette), of West Jordan, UT; Patrick (Dianne), of Boise, ID; brother, Dan (Kay) Guzzle, of Asbury, IA; sister, Chris (Jack) Horacek of Arcadia, IN; and eight grandchildren.

Preceded In Death By: His wife; parents; sister, Janet May Reittinger; brother, Robert L. Guzzle; and some great friends.

Services: Sunset 3rd Ward Chapel

Burial: Utah State Veterans Memorial Park
