Howard Guzzle, age 81, of Nauvoo, Illinois, passed away Monday, Feb. 7, 1994, at the Hancock County Nursing Home in Carthage. He was born on August 12, 1912 in Marion, Iowa, the son of Charles Lee and Christina Susan Gooley Guzzle. He was married on Oct. 31, 1936 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Marian Violet Huff. She preceded him in death on May 27, 1991.
Survivors include two daughters {private}; two sons, {private} and {private}; one sister, {provate} of Cedar Rapids; 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one brother, one sister, and one son (Robert Guzzle in 1989).
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nauvoo, Ill. since 1977..
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Manilla.
He had been employed by the Milwaukee Railroad as a car foreman in Cedar Rapids. He moved to Manilla, then to Dubuque in 1950 and lived there until 1977 when he retired from the Milwaukee Railroad as Superintendent after 40 years of faithful service. While in Dubuque he also worked for the Hi-Acre Dairy. After his retirement, he and his family moved to Nauvoo, where he currently resided.
Services were held Friday, Feb. 11 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Nauvoo with Bishop Dale Jacobs officiating.
Burial was at the Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.
Memorials to the Hancock County Nursing Home of Carthage have been established.
