Janet May Reittinger, 72, of Nauvoo, Ill., died at 7:41 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at her home.

Born Jan. 31, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, she was the daughter of Howard and Marian Huff Guzzle. On Nov. 14, 1956, she married Merlin L. Reittinger in Preston, Minn. He died Feb. 11, 2010.

Mrs. Reittinger was a homemaker and produced ceramic art. She attended school in Dubuque.

She was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Nauvoo and worked at the Temple.

She was known for her homemade rolls and pies and great cooking.

She enjoyed genealogy, civil war history, touring old homes, playing piano, shopping, sewing, quilting, crocheting baby blankets and especially time with family.

Survivors include one daughter, Heidi Mathews of Paxton, Ill.; four sons, Eric Reittinger of McAllen, Texas, Randy Reittinger of Nauvoo, Scott Reittinger of Brandon, Miss., and James Reittinger of Montrose; two brothers, Richard "Dick" Guzzle of Provo, Utah, and Dan Guzzle of Platteville, Wis.; 24 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Chris Horacek of Arcadia, Ind.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, her parents and one brother.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Nauvoo.

The funeral for Mrs. Reittinger will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Burial will be in Nauvoo City Cemetery.
