Beryl V. Sawyer, 77, Blue Springs, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at his home.

Beryl was born September 6, 1928, to Alva and Fern (Ferguson) Sawyer in Estherville, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean conflict. He was an accountant for the U.S. Treasury Department. He was a charter member and elder of Good Shepherd Christian Church, and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Vesper Hall Choir and the choir at Good Shepherd Christian Church. He was a former Boy Scout Scoutmaster and past president of the Blue Springs Booster Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janet, son, Thomas, granddaughter, Chelsey, one sister and three brothers.

His survivors include daughter, Debra Sawyer of Kirksville, Mo.; son, David Sawyer and wife, Angye, of Springfield, Mo.; brother, Don Sawyer of Spirit Lake, Iowa; and grandchildren, Amy, Matthew and Andrew Sawyer, and Emalye Hornbuckle.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Good Shepherd Christian Church, 111 S. Woods Chapel Road, Blue Springs. Burial will be in Blue Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions to Good Shepherd Christian Church, 111 S. Woods Chapel Road, Blue Springs, Mo. 64015 (816) 228-6908. Arrangements are under the direction of Webb-Freer Funeral Home, Blue Springs, (816) 229-2101.
