Betsey was the third of nine children born to Jonas More and Deborah Person More. She was raised at Roxbury where her father was a prominent farmer and leading citizen. Betsy married to Liberty Preston on 13 January 1820 at Roxbury. They made their home on Main Street at that place where her husband was a Postmaster and a Justice of the Peace. Betsey and Liberty were the parents of three children; Otis Monroe Preston, Jonas A. Preston who died at age 3 years, and Jonas More Preston. Betsey died as a result of dysentery when she was 47-years of age.

Patty Cable Wright believes that Lovisa Taylor Preston Burhans is the daughter of Betsey and Liberty Preston. Even the earliest published histories and journals do not support this. The Cable tree on ancestry.com indicates that Lovisa's parents are William P. Preston and Elizabeth Schutt. However, I appreciate her interest in this memorial. 17 August 2023.
