LOTTIE BELLE HESS, 85, died at her home, 236 E. Antietam Street, Hagerstown, Sunday after a six-month illness. Miss Hess was born and reared in Harney, Carroll County, a daughter of the late John G. and Agnes Jane Baker Hess. She had been a resident of Hagerstown since 1890 and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Philathea Sunday School class.

Surviving are three sisters, the Misses Emma M. and E. Gertrude Hess, both at home, and Mrs. Luther S. Spangler, Hagerstown; a brother, Maurice E. Hess, Hagerstown; and nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the A.K. Coffman Funeral Home; interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
